The Associated Press: A Short History

Once denounced as a monopolist, the Associated Press now dominates news reporting in America to a degree that may be unprecedented. Not everyone thinks this is a good thing. At Pajamas Media, Steve Boriss asks, “Is the AP good for America?”

The end result of the AP network has been the creation of a news supply chain that reliably turns out monolithic, center-left news.

Boriss argues that the AP hasn’t worked out so well for the newspapers themselves, either.
