A few months ago, the media loved to talk about “Obamicans,” Republicans who may vote for Barack Obama. I always thought it was ludicrous to think that any significant number of Republicans would vote for the most liberal Presidential nominee since George McGovern, at least. Now, as one would expect, poll data suggest that a considerably larger number of Democrats are taking a look at John McCain.
Today’s Rasmussen Reports finds that 15% of Democrats are supporting McCain, while 9% of Republicans say they plan to vote for Obama. Many of these voters will ultimately come home to their respective parties, but at the end of the day, more Democrats will vote for the moderate John McCain than Republicans will vote for the arch-liberal Barack Obama.
