For What It’s Worth

The Jerusalem Post has a report from De Telegraaf, a Dutch newspaper, to the effect that the Dutch have called off an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities because the U.S. is about to do the deed:

The Dutch intelligence service, the AIVD, has called off an operation aimed at infiltrating and sabotaging Iran’s weapons industry due to an assessment that a US attack on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is imminent, according to a report in the country’s De Telegraaf newspaper on Friday.

The report claimed that the Dutch operation had been “extremely successful,” and had been stopped because the US military was planning to hit targets that were “connected with the Dutch espionage action.”

Take it, as I say, for what it’s worth. I think it is extremely unlikely that the Netherlands had any intention of sabotaging Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Why would they? Of course, I think there is hardly any better chance that we’re doing anything to stop the Iranian nuke program, either. So I hope this report is true, but I doubt it.
