A word fitly spoken

Abraham Lincoln loved the biblical proverb that “a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Lincoln held that the equality of rights asserted in the Declaration of Independence “at that time, was the word ‘fitly spoken‘ which has proved an apple of gold to us. The Union, and the Constitution, are the ‘picture of silver‘ subsequently framed around it.”

Yesterday National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Tom Cole yanked the NRCC’s financial support of Minnesota Sixth District Rep. Michele Bachmann, who finds herself under the concentrated assault of the leftist lynch mob including the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Erick Erickson provides the word fitly spoken. Erick adds: “Help Michele Bachmann. This race is absolutely winnable. Hell, she’s winning right now. But she needs our help.”
