The Way She Sees It

Governor Palin appeared outside Los Angeles in Carson, California yesterday. Referring to Bill Ayers, Palin made news with her statement that she had read yesterday’s New York Times story about Barack Obama’s Chicago friend Bill Ayers. She said that Obama found America “imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country.”

Video of Governor Palin’s speech in Carson is available in its entirety here (part 1) and here (part 2). In part 1 (excerpt above) Governor Palin talks about the “providential” moment that preceded her appearance in California yesterday. She says that she found the Quote of the Day from Madeleine Albright on her Starbucks drink: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women.” Palin comments: “Now she said it, I didn’t.” She then looks forward to seeing what the media will turn it into today. It is very funny. In part 2 Palin talks about Obama’s association with Ayers.

At what James Taranto calls the Puffington Host (from which I have taken the photo above), Governor Palin’s citation of the Albright quote is the subject of a brutal fact check. It chides Governor Palin for getting the quote slightly wrong, replacing the word “help” with the synonym “support.” However, Governor Palin catches one break from the Puffington Host. It does not correct Governor Palin’s statement that the Albright quote was a Starbucks Quote of the Day when any fool can see it was only “The Way I See It #287.”
