I first met up with sisters Abby Misemer and Missy Nurrenbrock in 2006 at the Carolina FreedomNet conference sponsored by the John Locke Foundation. They flew up from New Port Richey, Florida to attend the program. I’m with them at the 2006 conference in the photograph above (Abby is on the left and Missy on the right).
At the conference we talked about the possibility of sponsoring a Power Line cruise of the kind that our friends at National Review and the Weekly Standard undertake. I know we can count on Abby and Missy to join us if we are ever able to pull one off. In the meantime, Abby and Missy have joined me on National Review’s 2008 post-election cruise. Yesterday I spoke on a terrific panel moderated by Kathryn Lopez, reviewing the election results together with Governor Romney, former Senator Fred Thompson, former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, Mona Charen, Byron York, Deroy Murdock and Brent Bozell. Many Power Line readers on the cruise have gone out of their way to say hello and express their appreciation for the site. It feels like we are among friends as we look back on the election just past and consider the future of conservatism in the company of several of its most prominent adherents and exponents.
