Hamas H.Q. Bombed; Power Line, too

Talk about disproportionate response. Just an hour or so after Power Line posted a series of videos from the Israeli Defense Forces–videos that, as Scott discovered, YouTube had pulled–we experienced a Denial-of-Service attack from a cabal of a half-dozen servers in the U.S. The attack sought to make Power Line and the videos we are hosting inaccessible by overloading our server. Our data center promptly registered the attack, and then defeated it by placing Power Line behind an advanced computer called a Cisco Guard. This device recognize malicious Internet traffic and defeats it.

Here, in rough strokes, is what a DOS attack looks like:

Yet it does not strike one as quite right that Islamists can will good content out of existence, does it? So we’ve placed the IDF videos on a Content Delivery Network, which is a network of hundreds of computers throughout the world. When you click on a video, the version nearest you will be delivered to your computer. This will make these videos, and all future PL videos, very easy to watch. The decentralized nature of the network will make them difficult to attack.

And, thanking our assailants for the motivation, here is another action film that the IDF provided to us. It displays the Hamas Government Headquarters in Gaza, which became the receiving end of the IAF’s “Operation Cast Lead.” In the same bombing run on which the smuggling tunnels were destroyed, so was this.

JOHN adds: Thanks to Joe as well as our data center for their expert technical assistance.
