A profile in courage

In today’s Washington Post Thomas Ricks profiles General Ray Odierno. Most of the profile constitutes a look back. At the end, however, Ricks gets Odierno to look ahead:

One of the points he would stress to the new commander in chief, Odierno said, would be “the importance of us leaving [Iraq] with honor and justice.”

“For the military, he added, “it’s extremely important because of all the sacrifice and time and, in fact, how we’ve all adjusted and adapted.”

Via Lucianne.

UPDATE: Post publicist Maria Cereghino writes that the Odierno profile is one of two excertps from Ricks’s forthcoming The Gamble. She directs us to the second excerpt, with interactive features, here.
