“Hope He Can Change”

Victor Davis Hanson itemizes some of the blunders that have made the first two weeks of the Obama administration a fiasco:

[A]fter only two weeks we are in a crisis stage of confidence, and the story is spiraling by the hour out of control. … Obama is our President, and we must hope he does something fast to save his administration from general ridicule that will incur real dangers for all of us abroad.

I think Hanson overstates the case slightly; in my view Obama’s administration so far has been a fiasco, not a disaster, because nothing has happened that can’t be remedied. But Hanson is correct that if Obama doesn’t change course quickly, the country’s security will be imperiled. Hanson’s prescriptions, too, are good ones.
