No response is the best response

Charles Lane argues that President Obama should respond to Chas Freeman’s parting shot, in which Freeman asserted that his demise “will be seen by many to raise serious questions about whether the Obama administration will be able to make its own decisions about the Middle East,” as opposed to having these decisions made by “a Lobby intent on enforcing the will and interests of a foreign government.” When asked about this remark, White House spokesmen have said, in effect, that the president has no response.

I have to side with Obama on this one. It is not the job of the president to respond to crackpots. In any event, what would Obama say by way of response? I will too make my own decisions about the Middle East rather than allowing a nefarious Lobby to make them for me?
