Our friend Jonathan Stein emails a few questions about the White House seder depicted in the photo below. Jonathan asks: “Is the real Barack Obama bowing to one of the most fanatical anti-Semitic despots going? Or is it this guy going through the motions below?”
Jonathan also asks: “Is that chametz I see on one of those plates? If it were Bush, reporters would be digging through the White House kitchen trash to find out. And did Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who I imagine presided over this thing, just happen to step out when they let the Times’ photographer in?”
Coincidentally or not, Jonathan’s question total four in number. I think we’ll be adding those four questions to the traditional four questions at next year’s Seder.
