A very interesting finding this morning from Rasmussen Reports: the American people are losing confidence in the way in which their government is fighting the war against Islamic terror:
Just 42% of likely voters now believe the United States and its allies are winning the War on Terror, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
That’s down from 50% two weeks ago, down from 62% in early February, and is the lowest level of confidence since June 30, 2008.
What accounts for this sudden, sharp decline? I can’t think of anything other than the Democrats’ hysteria over “torture.” It appears that a considerable number of Americans interpret the Democrats’ backbiting and finger-pointing as evidence of a lack of resolve to combat terrorists and a failure to appreciate the nature of the terrorist threat.
As we’ve said before, this won’t matter much as long as there are no more terrorist attacks.
