The Sotomayor hearings, day two

We’re almost an hour into the second of Judge Sotomayor’s confirmation hearings. Today, the Senators get to ask questions. Sen. Leahy and Sen. Sessions have questioned Sotomayor so far. Sessions appears to have questioned her politely but aggressively.

I won’t be able to live-blog today’s proceedings. But SCOTUSblog is continuing its great work, and Ed Whelan has joined in at Bench Memos.

According to their accounts, Leahy asked Sotomayor what she learned from prosecuting a high-profile murder case (the Tarzan murder). Sotomayor replied that she learned the tragic consequences of needless death.

Shouldn’t she have known about this already? Perhaps not, given her ideology and education.
