Chavez’s proxy war

As Barack Obama yuks it up with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, according to Investor’s Business Daily editorial writer Monica Showalter, the United States and Venezuela are engaged in a proxy war in Colombia. In Colombia the US supports the Colombian army and Chavez bankrolls the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Showalter writes: “A war like this, against old-fashioned Marxist revolutionaries, ought to have been won a long time ago. But it’s not, because Chavez keeps the terrorists in business….This just shows how naïve and reckless our foreign policy is.” IBD elaborates in the editorial “Chavez’s proxy war,” which cites this New York Times article.
