Obama’s Decline

We have followed President Obama’s declining approval ratings since near the beginning of his presidency. One of the more interesting figures is what Scott Rasmussen calls the “approval index,” which represents the difference between Obama’s “strong approval” and “strong disapproval” scores. The approval index is significant because it measures intensity and because so far, it has been a leading indicator of Obama’s overall approval/disapproval rating.
This chart depicts the steady decline of Obama’s approval index from his inauguration to the present:

The decline continues, as currently Obama stands at -18, and his approval index has been as low as -21. Overall, currently 46 percent of likely voters at least somewhat approve of Obama’s performance, while 53 percent disapprove.
