Don’t leave it to Cleaver, part 2

We wrote about the claim that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver had been spit on and other black congressmen had been subject to racial abuse in “Don’t leave it to Cleaver” and in several other posts. These allegations remain lacking in any shred of proof beyond the say-so of the congressmen involved.
What’s wrong with that? Among other things, one of the involved congressmen is Rep. James Clyburn, a member of the House Democratic leadership and a past master in the cynical deployment of the race card. I conclude as have many others that these allegations were orchestrated by the Democrat/media axis to stigmatize the opposition to Obama’s program of national socialism as racist and to suppress dissent.
Now Rep. Cleaver is taking a somewhat quizzical approach to the allegation that he was spit upon. Weasel Zippers links to an interview with Cleaver on Tuesday reported by a local Fox affiliate. In the interview Cleaver would not directly answer the question of whether or not he was intentionally spit upon.
“I haven’t talked about this incident on TV or anywhere, and I’ve been approached to talk about it on every national TV show,” said Rep. Cleaver in an interview with the Fox affiliate. “I never, I never reported anything, never a single thing in Washington, not one thing. People assume I went somewhere, never done press conference, never done an interview on it and I’m not going to do it.”
Weasel Zippers also digs into ancient history tracing the allegation to a March 20 item at the Huffington Post. The March 20 item first quotes a Clyburn staffer making the allegation that Cleaver had been spit upon and then appends a statement issued by Cleaver’s office.
As we say in show business, stay tuned.
