Tea Party Vs. Obama

Notwithstanding constant attacks on the Tea Party movement by the press, most notably false imputations of racism, a plurality of voters believe the Tea Party represents their views better than President Obama:

On major issues, 48% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is closer to their views than President Barack Obama. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 44% hold the opposite view and believe the president’s views are closer to their own.

The key datum, as usual, is that independents prefer the Tea Party over Obama by 50-38 percent.
It is starting to appear that the Democrats would have been better off to engage the Tea Partiers’ ideas, rather than merely slandering them. But old habits die hard.
