When Fraternizing Is OK

This video of Spanish goalie and captain Iker Casillas being interviewed following Spain’s World Cup victory by a Spanish television reporter named Sara Carbonero is making the rounds:

It’s really very cute; Carbonero happens to be Casillas’s girlfriend, and her embarrassed reaction to the kiss is adorable. But, hey, it’s only sports. Here on American television, we see the same sort of thing nearly every day when journalists like Chris Matthews interview members of the Obama administration.
PAUL adds: I heard somewhere that during an interview early in tournament, following Spain’s 1-0 loss to Switzerland, Carbonero asked Casillas (arguably unfairly) why he messed up on the Swiss goal. So the analogy to Chris Matthews breaks down.
