Good news from New Hampshire

I haven’t been happy with recent election results from the Upper Valley of New Hampshire — either for national or Dartmouth office. But tonight the Republicans recaptured NH-2, the district that includes Dartmouth. Former Rep. Charlie Bass defeated Democratic candidate Ann Kuster 49-46 [correction, Kuster was not an incumbent].
It wasn’t an easy race for Bass. As a long time Congressman, he had difficulty taking advantage of the anti-Washington mood. Indeed, during his debate with Kuster, she often made him sound like the incumbent. But Bass managed to pull out the race.
In NH-1, Republican Frank Guinta had an easier time of it, knocking off incumbent Carol Shea-Porter by 10 points.
