The jihadist who blew himself up in Stockholm, apparently accidentally, was just minutes away from committing mass murder, according to Swedish authorities:
A suicide bomber who blew himself up in Stockholm at the weekend was just minutes away from wreaking carnage among Christmas shoppers, said Sweden’s foreign minister Carl Bildt.
The man, carrying a cocktail of explosives according to Swedish investigators, was only “a couple of hundred metres” from causing massive casualties, Bildt told BBC television Monday.
The bomber, whom [sic] investigators strongly believe was Taymour Abdelwahab, was the only person to die in Saturday’s attack. Two other people were injured when the bomber detonated a car before blowing himself up.
It turns out that the would-be bomber, Taymour Abdelwahab, had lived in England for several years and had a wife and children there. But he apparently was dissatisfied and reportedly had advertised on Muslim web sites for another wife. He reportedly was kicked out of his mosque in Luton, a notoriously radical area, because he was an extremist. It would have been good to know this before he blew himself up.
