A New Low In Democratic Party Hate Speech?

We can begin by stipulating that Congressman Jim Moran (D-Va) is a disgusting human being. But is he this disgusting? He gave an interview to Alhurra, an Arab television network that, as AllahPundit notes, was founded as an American-supported alternative to Al Jazeera. Moran is asked about the Republican sweep, and he answers–I think–as follows:

It [the Republican successes in the 2010 elections] happened for the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States. It happened because the Southern states, the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery.
In this case, I believe, a lot of people in the United States don’t want to be governed by an African-American, particularly one who is liberal, who wants to spend money and who wants to reach out to include everyone in our society….

Here is the video; the problem is that what you mostly hear is the translator. You have to strain to pick up Moran, but as far as I can tell, the above transcript is correct. We really need some Arabic speakers to weigh in and verify that this is what he said, in the Arabic translation.

I’m not sure who deserves the credit for uncovering this exchange. It might be The Right Scoop, or else Mark Tapscott of The Examiner. In any event, this is one of the most vicious examples of liberal hate speech we have come across in a long time. It is galling to see a representative of the Democratic Party, the party of slavery and Jim Crow, allege that some of its Congressional candidates–all or nearly all of them white–were defeated because “a lot of people in the United States”–the same ones who swept Obama into office in 2008–“don’t want to be governed by an African-American.” And this on a network that is supported by American taxpayers so that it can present a pro-American image abroad!
Moran’s actions may not technically constitute treason, but if he said what I think he did, he betrayed his country in just about the crudest, stupidest and most hateful way possible. Jim Moran is a disgrace to his country and to the Congress of the United States. Every Democrat in America should be ashamed.
