Uncommon Knowledge with Stanley Kurtz

Stanley Kurtz is a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a regular contributor to NRO’s Corner, and the author of Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism. The deeply researched book argues that the key to understanding Obama’s politics is Obama’s background as a college socialist and a community organizer.

Paul Mirengoff wrote about the book several times, including here, here, and here. Summarizing some of Kurtz’s research, Paul found that Obama unquestionably was a socialist as a college student; pursued the career path — community organizer — recommended by socialists as the best means of advancing their agenda; and did in fact advance such an agenda as a community organizer. As a result of his successes in this enterprise, he ran for the Illinois State Senate as the handpicked successor to an avowed socialist, Alice Palmer. He launched that campaign at the home of a communist (and former terrorist), his political collaborator Bill Ayers.

Peter Robinson recently sat down with Stanley Kurtz to discuss the book. The interview is a sort of preface to the book, which is must reading even if it remains a deep secret to those who get their news from, say, the New York Times. The Kurtzes readers of the Times are most likely to learn about are Swoosie and Howard. As for Stanley, they’re on their own. Through our arrangement with the Hoover Institution, we are pleased to present the interview with Stanley Kurtz in its entirety. Please check it out.
