Prosser protracted

With almost all the precincts having reported, Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser clings to a narrow lead over challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg. The news stories say that 99 percent of the ballots have been counted, which suggests that some absentee ballots may remain. According to the AP’s tracker and my arithmetic, with nearly a million and a half votes in, Prosser holds a 585 vote lead. That represents less than .05 percent of the total votes cast.
It’s not over yet. The outcome remains in doubt. Prosser’s lead is unfortunately not outside the margin of fraud. And a recount appears to be in the cards.
UPDATE: As of 10:49 a.m. (Eastern time) the AP tracker shows Kloppenburg leading by 369 votes with all but five precincts reporting.
THIS JUST IN: As of 3:30 p.m. (Eastern time), the AP has shows Kloppenburg leading by 204 votes with all precincts reporting.
