Almost live from Jerusalem with Dore Gold

I am home from the Tomorrow 2012 edition of the Presidential Conference in Jerusalem that came to a close last night. I’ll have some reflections on the conference when I have finished posting the videos of the speakers whom I caught up with this week.

Yesterday former Israeli Ambassador to the UN Dore Gold addressed a large audience as part of a panel on the American presidential election in November. As you might imagine, the election is a matter of some interest in Israel.

On our 2007 bloggers’ tour of Israel in the summer of 2007, tour leader Fern Oppenheim invited Ambassador Gold to meet up with us; he drove from Jerusalem to meet us over pizza late one night at the end of a long day at our hotel in Tel Aviv. At that time he was talking about his new book, The Fight For Jerusalem. He could not have been more generous with his time or comments.

I tackled Ambassador Gold on his way into the panel yesterday afternoon to ask if he would meet me for a short video afterwards. Ambassador Gold is the president of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs; he wanted to talk about the center’s just-published paper by Lt. Col. (ret.) Michael Segall, “The role of Iranian security forces in the Syrian bloodshed.” The paper is hot off the press and obviously could not be more timely. Please check out the paper and the video.
