Contrast this

This morning after writing up my thoughts on Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan as his running mate, I wanted to offer some free advice to the Romney campaign. If it’s a contrast to the Obama reelection campaign that you now mean to serve up, make an avowal of love for the United States your motif.

We love this country. Unlike Obama and his crew, we do not find it in need of fundamental transformation. We seek to restore the principles of the American Founding to their rightful, preeminent authority in our national life.

In his remarks in North Carolina this morning, Governor Romney said it over and over: I love this country. I counted some six times that he said it.

Now that this has become a contrast election, this is the contrast that strikes most deeply for me. When Governor Romney avows his love for America, you know who he’s talking about. No explanation is necessary.

I am advised that the Romney communications team YouTube channel will have the video of Governor Romney’s remarks up today. I will post the video here as soon as it is available.

UPDATE: I have posted the NBC News video with the entirety of Rep. Ryan’s and Governor Romney’s remarks in “We love this country.”
