Disillusionment with Obama running deep

A Gallup poll reports that 9 percent of those who say they voted for Barack Obama now say they support Mitt Romney. 86 percent say they will stand by the “hope and change” guy.

Romney does better than Obama at holding on to his expected share of the 2008 vote. Only 5 percent told Gallup they will flip to Obama, while 92 percent plan once again to vote against him.

Obviously, Obama’s margin in 2008 was big enough to allow for some slippage. For example, the above results would produce an extremely tight race.

But I suspect that Romney will have an easier time winning over those who voted for McCain, but aren’t currently planning to vote for the Republican this time, than Obama will have recapturing the 14 percent who plainly feel let down by this president.
