Obama Is On the Case

In Beirut, diplomats at the U.S. Embassy have begun destroying classified documents as a precaution, in case a mob should overrun the embassy. The State Department assures us that such precautions are “normal”:

The official stressed it was normal under circumstances such as those of last week for embassies to reduce the amount of classified material that they hold.

Yes, I suppose it is prudent to eliminate classified materials any time your embassies and consulates are being bombed, burned and overrun.

There obviously is a crisis unfolding across the Muslim world, but, as the Romney campaign points out, it doesn’t seem to engage President Obama:

@AmyEGardner
President Obama didn’t watch SNL season opener this weekend; watched a lot of football, per Josh Earnest on AF1 gaggle.

The only thing that Obama shows any apparent interest in working at is raising money. Still, his attitude is understandable. He was elected in 2008 as a symbol, and I suppose he figures he is as good a symbol while sitting on his couch watching football as he would be if he were actually discharging the duties of his office.
