Uncommon Knowledge with Thomas Sowell

Thomas Sowell is the one and only. His forthcoming pamphlet “Trickle Down” Theory and “Tax Cuts For the Rich” is a timely look at an evergreen issue. A PDF of the pamphlet is posted here. Peter Robinson takes the publication of the pamphlet as an occasion to invite Sowell to return for an interview.

I recommend sticking with this 40-minute interview all the way through to the end. In the first ten minutes or so you get Sowell annotating selected excerpts of the convention speeches of Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. At 31:00, our own John Hinderaker makes a cameo appearance on the subject of the hour. Sowell concurs with Hinderaker. At the conclusion of the interview Sowell provides parting advice to young people who want to make a contribution to the survival of the republic (spoiler warning): help vote Obama out of office!

Peter introduced one of Sowell’s several appearances on Uncommon Knowledge with a clip of William Buckley’s introduction of Sowell on Firing Line 30 years ago. In the clip Buckley saluted Sowell for being “a scholar who has devoted his labors to looking behind the cliches of abjection.” The same thought applies to this interview. We are pleased to present this installment of Uncommon Knowledge in its entirety. Please check it out.
