Daniel Pipes in Minneapolis

I met up with Daniel Pipes yesterday afternoon in Minneapolis while he was in town for a family event. Dr. Pipes is the head of Middle East Forum, one of whose projects is Islamist Watch. He compiles his writings at DanielPipes.org. Last week he posted his brief comments on the vice presidential candidates’ debate here. He appears in the video of the debate I posted last weekend in “Better Elected Islamists than dictators?”

Dr. Pipes is the author of several excellent books on the Islamic/Arab Middle East. One of my favorites is The Rushdie Affair: The Novel, The Ayatollah, and the West. It is a book that is obviously more timely than ever. Please forgive my garbled question in the video below asking him to update his thoughts in light of current events. His answer is lucid and interesting.
