Around the Hagel in 80 seconds

It appears that the RNC has compiled the lowlights of Chuck Hagel’s testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday, condensing them down to a mercifully brief 80 seconds. Quotable quote: “If I had an opportunity to edit that, like many things I said, I would like to go back and change the words and meaning,” Hagel responded at one point to a question about a 2003 comment in which he referred to Israel keeping people “like caged animals.” Translation: “I wish I hadn’t said what I thought.”

And this didn’t even make the cut: “A number of questions were asked of me today about specific programs, submarine programs, different areas of technology and acquisitions, and our superior technology. I’ve said I do not know enough about it. I don’t. There are a lot of things I don’t know about. If confirmed, I intend to know a lot more than I do.”
