Ron Paul — opportunistic fool

Former Texas Rep. Ron Paul responded to the murder of former Navy SEAL and legendary sniper Chris Kyle at the hands of another Iraq War veteran by tweeting: “Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that ‘he who lives by the sword dies by the sword,’” Paul overlooked the fact that the death of nearly every other combat veteran, including former snipers, illustrates the opposite.

Now, Eliana Johnson reports that Paul has explained his idiotic and inappropriate comment. His latest offering on the subject states:

As a veteran, I certainly recognize that this weekend’s violence and killing of Chris Kyle were a tragic and sad event. My condolences and prayers go out to Mr. Kyle’s family. Unconstitutional and unnecessary wars have endless unintended consequences. A policy of non-violence, as Christ preached, would have prevented this and similar tragedies.

He has a point. If there were no violence, there would be no violence.

As Eliana concludes, “Mohamed Morsi may have given Ron Paul a few lessons on how to explain away impolitic remarks.”
