Accountability, Obama-Style

I’m not even going to bother looking up HHS Secretary Sebelius’s comment that the “glitches/kinks” of the Obamacare rollout are analogous to a bad Apple product launch, because, first of all, remember what happened to the guy at Apple who botched AppleMaps?  He was promptly fired.  The failure of HealthCare.gov is much worse than one failed app: it’s more analogous to the whole darn iPhone failing right out of the box–in which case it wouldn’t have been brought to the market in the first place, because, oh, I don’t know–maybe they test things thoroughly first.  It makes all the various infuriating iterations of Windows look like the paragon of clarity and smooth operation by comparison.  A lesson, as if one were needed yet again, for how accountability works in government.  Paul Ryan is exactly right in calling for Sebelius’s firing or resignation.

Speaking of accountability, in the “Stay Classy, Democrats” file, we have this news item about Florida Rep. Alan Grayson comparing the Tea Party to the Klan.  Well maybe he would know: after all, virtually the entire membership of the Klan were Democrats.  Worth keeping in mind.  Along with the forgotten fact that Bull Connor wasn’t just a Democrat, but a member of the Democratic National Committee.  Or how about the way Bobby Kennedy, in TV debate with Gene McCarthy in 1968, said, “You plan to take 10,000 black people and send them to Orange County.”  McCarthy had said no such thing, but moreover not only has no one ever called RFK on this shameful race-baiting, but this line is naturally omitted from most of the fawning books about the “racial healer.”  Accountability is only for Republicans, I guess.

As has been said many times before, if liberals didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.  Stay classy, Democrats.
