Lies of Obamacare: The Emanuel effect

Ever popular Obamacare architect Ezekiel Emanuel is a hard case. He has a home in academia, but he continues to carry water for the Obama administration. I guess it’s a matter of professional pride, or political mania.

On FNC’s Kelly File last night Megyn Kelly grilled Emanuel over the “If you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan” lie with which President Obama sold and promoted Obamacare. It is only one of many such lies, but it is the lie of the moment as it has been exposed for all to see. Emanuel stoutly defends the veracity of the claim. He stands by it. He’s spinning as fast as he can. Like his old boss, he appears to lack a conscience. Who ya gonna believe, Ezekiel Emanuel or your lyin’ eyes?

The interview produces a comedy bonus. According to Emanuel, Fox News bears responsibility for the current crisis of Obamacare. Like Obama, Emanuel lacks the self-awareness to understand how he makes himself laughable. Yet the interview warrants serious reflection. Watching Emanuel try to hang in there with Kelly brings to mind his brother’s adage about a crisis being a terrible thing to waste. James Capretta argues that the Upton bill presents opportunity in the crisis. In any event, don’t miss this one.
