My Opinion of Elizabeth Warren as a Presidential Candidate

As Paul noted this morning, liberal journalists are floating the idea the Elizabeth Warren could be a serious competitor for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016. The idea is that Warren could raise the “progressive” banner and challenge Hillary Clinton from the left.

In my opinion, the idea that after eight years of the Obama administration, voters–even Democratic voters–will conclude the problem is that the federal government hasn’t been liberal enough is delusional. It tells us a lot more about the perspective of liberal journalists than it does about the political realities of 2016 (or 2013).

Further, the idea that Elizabeth Warren is some kind of electoral powerhouse is also ridiculous. As Paul points out, last year she ran 15 points behind Barack Obama in Massachusetts. And that was her first and only election ever; she didn’t even have to run in a primary. In my view, Elizabeth Warren is another Dennis Kucinich, with this difference: Kucinich never tried to impersonate an Indian, and was a laughingstock only because of his far-left political views.
