Axis of Evil revisited

In his 2002 State of the Union speech President Bush famously characterized Iran, Iraq and North Korea along with their terrorist allies as an Axis of Evil. Iran is and was the leader of the pack.

Iraq dropped out when Bush led the coalition that deposed Saddam Hussein, but our recent agreements with Syria and Iran seem to put us in bed with these regimes. Obama seems to be dream of an accord with their terrorist allies. Moreover, the failure of the United States to reach a Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq and our subsequent exit from the country has relegated Iraq to Iran’s sphere of influence.

The Joint Plan of Action at which the Obama administration has arrived with in particular represents a fateful reorientation of American foreign policy toward protection and support of the Axis of Evil. Does Obama now think he is leading it from behind, or does he aspire to?
