Democrats perfect the science of converting cash into congressional seats

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently sent out the following email under the subject heading “DOOMED”:

We’ll get straight to the point:

We’re officially being outspent 2-1 by Boehner’s allies. If we can’t close this fundraising gap now, our chances of winning a Democratic House are doomed from the start.

We can’t just sit on our hands here. With 48 hours until the deadline, we still need 22,701 more donations to have a shot at a Democratic Majority in 2014.

According to our records, you haven’t answered President Obama’s call to action.

Can you make a quick donation?

48 HOUR DEADLINE: All Gifts Triple-Matched!

If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.

Thanks,

Democratic Headquarters

I understand that the Democrats are the Party of Science and that their geeks run circles around Republican geeks. But how did they determine down the last digit the number of donations that will give them a shot at a majority in 2014?

And why did they conclude they can summon forth the required 22,701 donors without even once mentioning the Koch brothers in their sales pitch?
