There’s no candidate I would rather see lose, from a personal standpoint, than Charlie Crist. In a profession full of slippery characters, I wouldn’t be surprised if Crist is the most slippery. Indeed, it’s difficult to find an important subject as to which he has not flipped.
Crist is locked in a tight contest for Florida governor against incumbent Rick Scott. The two have been neck-and-neck all night. But now, with more than 90 percent of the precincts reporting, Scott has moved out to a three point lead.
The race still hasn’t been called, but I’d rather be Scott than Crist right now. Come to think of it, I’d rather be Scott regardless of the outcome.
UPDATE: 97 percent of the precincts are now in. Scott leads Crist by 1.6 points and nearly 100,000 votes.
Still no call, though. Why? Because liberal Dade County apparently has not yet reported, according to Eliana Johnson.
SCOTT WINS: Sorry Charlie, Scott has been declared the winner. He’s up by around 75,000 votes with 97 percent of it counted.
All over Florida, trial lawyers are weeping.
