To address the doings related to the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, yesterday’s Meet the Press convened a panel of liberals including host Chuck Todd, the Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson, and MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell (video below). Todd, Robinson, and Mitchell vied to discover who could sink the lowest on the subject. In a photo finish, I declare it a three-way tie. They were equally idiotic.
National Review editor Rich Lowry was the sole voice of reason on the panel. He stood athwart the liberal hive, not yelling stop (although he seems to have had Bill Buckley’s famous words echoing in the recesses of his mind), but rather gently advising Americans to obey the law and to behave with the police. “If you look at the most credible evidence [of Michael Brown’s death at the hands of police office Darren Wilson], the lessons are really basic. Don’t rob a convenience store. Don’t fight with a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun. And when he yells at you to stop, just stop.” Bill Buckley himself could not have stood athwart more effectively.
