Tom Cotton defends his letter

Senator Tom Cotton appeared on Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer this morning (video below). Schieffer grilled and derided Senator Cotton about the letter he drafted setting forth the basic constitutional principles applicable to the deal in process with Iran.

Senator Cotton’s remarks should now be viewed in the context of Obama chief of staff Dennis McDonough’s letter last night to Senator Corker, of which Schieffer seemed not to be aware. Channeling the consciousness of the mainstream media, he would have been duly impressed and worked it in if he had known about it.

Senator Cotton’s appearance was preceded by an indignant John Kerry raising clouds of dust in a prerecorded interview that we’ll have to dig out as well. CBS has posted a summary of the Kerry interview segment here. Kerry huffed and puffed like the Big Bad Wolf in the fairy tale. I wonder if he has ever talked to a representative of the Iranian regime like that. Somehow I doubt it.

JOHN adds: Wow. That was a near-perfect performance by Tom Cotton. Well done.

UPDATE: We’ve posted video of the Kerry interview segment here.
