I wish there were any danger that Congress would reject the deal with Iran by the two-thirds majorities necessary to override President Obama’s veto under the Corker bill. Has the United States ever entered into such a fateful deal without popular support? I think the answer is no, and the lack of popular support may be the single most distinguishing feature of the Iran deal from the Munich Agreement.
In the array of false and disgusting arguments advanced on behalf of the deal, Secretary Kerry may have reached a new low today. This morning Kerry told the Council of Foreign Relations that, if Congress rejects the proposed nuclear deal with Iran, the world will blame Israel. Nice to know that he has found Israel of use, in his own sick way.
Former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren comments: “If American legislators reject the nuclear deal, they will do so exclusively on the basis of US interests. The threat of the Secretary of State who, in the past, warned that Israel was in danger of becoming an apartheid state, cannot deter us from fulfilling our national duty to oppose this dangerous deal.”
I comment: John Kerry may not be the lowest form of life in the Obama administration, but that is only because the competition for the title is so fierce.
