Return to Kentucky Fried Hillary [With Comment By John]

Madam Hillary was campaigning over the weekend in Hoover, Alabama, so she felt the compulsion to turn on her phony drawl again. We have much more of this to look forward to, of course, but it serves a useful purpose. It reminds us that she is occasionally lacking in authenticity.

Quotable quote, regarding the Reagan/Bush era during which we won the Cold War and some 18 million new, mostly high-paying jobs were created: “You know, when my husband became president thanks to a lot of you in this room, I remember after that election in ’92, him saying to me, ‘It’s so much worse than they told us.’ The debt in our country has been quadrupled in the prior 12 years, the deficits had exploded. So he had to roll up his sleeves and work hard.”

JOHN adds: As usual, Hillary’s attack makes little sense. The national debt was “so much worse than they told us”? That’s ridiculous. Deficit and debt numbers are publicized by the Treasury Department. Everyone knew what those numbers were. And, while it is true that the national debt went from around $1 trillion to about $4 trillion between 1981 and 1992, it has increased by around $8 trillion during the seven years of the Obama administration, in which Clinton served as a senior official.
