The Power Line Show, Episode 31: Jeff Sessions Explains the News

This morning John, Scott and Steve returned from a holiday hiatus to record Episode 31 of the Power Line Show. Paul couldn’t join in because he had a dentist appointment. Which naturally raised the question: would you rather have a root canal, or be forced to watch tonight’s State of the Union address?

We kicked around some of the day’s hottest news stories, including the epidemic of mass sexual assault in Europe. Our guest was Senator Jeff Sessions, who was enlightening as always on subjects including the omnibus spending bill and the changing tide on immigration. The tide must be changing: Thomas Friedman, that infallible barometer of conventional wisdom on the Left, has joined Sessions in calling for less low-skilled immigration. Wonders, apparently, will never cease. Or maybe common sense sometimes is too powerful to ignore.
