Hillary Clinton stepped out to make a statement claiming victory in the Iowa caucuses on Monday night. It wasn’t clear that she had won and it still isn’t, but appearances had to be maintained.
Clinton gave a six-minute speech (video below) that almost captures her full awfulness. She lies with pathological abandon. She is a gold-plated phony. She has achieved plutocratic wealth through public service while holding herself out as a champion of the common man. She struggles to impersonate an authentic human being.
Delivering remarks in a tone of voice that would make fingernails scraping against a blackboard sound attractive, she ticked off the left-wing checklist in epistemological form, as statements of her knowledge: “I know we can create more good-paying jobs and raise incomes for hard-working Americans again. [Ed.: Shouldn’t she be sharing her knowledge with her good friend in the White House?] I know that we can finish the job of universal health care coverage for every single man, woman and child. [Ed.: I know that redundancy has its uses.] I know that we can combat climate change and be the clean energy superpower of the twenty-first century.”
And that’s not all! She also knows this: “I know we can make college affordable and get student debt off the backs of young people. And I know we can protect our rights — women’s rights, gay rights, voting rights, immigrant rights, worker’s rights. I know too we can stand up to the gun lobby and get common sense gun safety measures.”
I know that no sane person can listen to her and maintain his sanity.
I know that Bill Clinton can barely pretend to listen to her.
I know that she’s big on mythical “rights,” but the right to be left alone is not going to experience a revival in the Clinton administration.
I know that the young man standing behind her who ate stickers as she spoke — Drake student Peter Clinkscales, according to the New York Daily News — constituted a more representative specimen of humanity than Clinton. He commented: “I didn’t really pay attention too much.”
I know that toward the end of her remarks she had an important message for all of us: “I want you to know that I will keep doing what I have been doing my entire life.”
