Annoy the Media: Vote for Someone Else

Anyone recall the bumper strip from 1992 that read: “Annoy the Media—Vote for Bush”? Or if you want another premise, think about how Nixon’s dirty tricks operation in 1972 was supposedly aimed at assisting McGovern to get the Democratic nomination because he was the weakest candidate.

This story may not be true, but it was a line in the film version of All the President’s Men, and it certainly fits with the way the left thinks. And it might just might explain what’s going on right now.

Ask yourself whether you think the media’s lopsided coverage of Donald Trump has the Republican Party’s best interests in mind. Have a look at the chart below, posted by Steven Miller over at NR, showing how much of the total network coverage Trump has received:

Media Time

Are the media doing this because they have Republicans’ best interests at heart? Are they really giving fair coverage to all the candidates? Is there a reason last week that Rubio got the next most amount of coverage (because he was attacking Trump so hard) while it was Cruz who was surging?

Miller notes:

Persuasive evidence suggests that there is a direct correlation between Trump’s poll numbers and his media coverage compared with the media and polls for the rest of the field. . .

Trump supporters who believe their candidate is the anti-establishment destroyer of media are being conned, and the con is being perpetrated by the people they hate the most — the Clintonistas of network media. Not only are these people generally hostile to conservatism. They also are not content to simply sit on the sidelines and objectively report what candidates say and do.

If you want to annoy the media now, you might want to rethink Trump.
