While I remain unenthusiastic about the idea of Donald Trump as a presidential nominee (or president, for that matter), I’m starting to warm up to the idea of Trump for secretary of defense, with his first job being to eradicate the spambots that have been stepping up their incursions into Power Line comment feeds. After all, didn’t Trump say that those smart Silicon Valley guys can “turn off” the Internet, or something? Here’s his chance.
Yes, there has been a noticeable increase on our comment threads in the number of spams about how to make money at home doing telemarketing for the Sanders campaign. We try to police these as fast and as best we can, and tweak our software to catch these miscreants, but they still slip by. So far I haven’t figured out how to respond to them in the way I fend off the endless supply of Nigerian princes who need my bank account number to help transfer money (I ask for their bank account number instead).
I’m certain there is an exception in the Geneva Convention for Donald Trump’s previous policy toward terrorists—nuking them and killing their families too—in the case of spambots. In the meantime, we’ll just have to keep sending out our equivalent of Power Line’s A-10 Warthog anti-spam attack planes. Which also look like drones.
