Harvard Law Anti-Semite Revealed: No Surprises

I wrote here about a shocking incident at Harvard Law School. One of the participants in an event last week was former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. A member of the audience asked:

My question for Tzipi Livni is, how is it that you are so smelly? It’s regarding your odor — about the odor of Tzipi Livni, very smelly.

The student, reportedly the president of an HLS organization, was not identified by the law school (even though, a few years ago, the law school administration named and denounced a student who wrote in a private email that she had an open mind about the possibility of racial differences). The law school went so far as to release a video of the event with the student’s offensive interjection excised. To top off the charade, the student apologized–anonymously.

Of course, it didn’t take long for the anti-Semite to be identified. He has deleted his social media accounts, but the HLS students at Royall Asses are on the case:

After a flurry of activity in launching this blog, in early December we suspended our blogging after learning of the Royal Asses’ efforts to have us investigated by federal officials — merely for writing about, and mocking, key students involved in a protest movement that almost certainly staged a hoax to gain attention for the movement’s cause.

Liberals’ attempts to prosecute criminally those who don’t toe their line are becoming frequent. This will be the subject of my next post.

The student’s hopes of avoiding accountability for his crude mocking of a prominent Jewish leader came to an end yesterday evening, through the magic of Twitter, when Noah Pollak, who writes for Commentary and the Weekly Standard, published his name… It’s Husam El-Qoulaq (last name spelled slightly differently in some places, apparently to aid English speakers with pronunciation).

Former Israeli official, and current Israeli journalist, Caroline B. Glick has been quite pointed in her Facebook comments on El-Qoulaq and on Harvard’s reactions to his conduct.

Mr. El-Qoulaq’s LinkedIn profile:

This moron has been on Berkeley’s City Council? That explains a lot. He is also a leader of the Harvard Arab Students Association.

There is much more about El-Qoulaq in the linked Royall Asses post, but for the moment I want to emphasize this: he is a garden-variety left-winger of the sort that has plagued higher education in recent years:

[I]t turns out that the apparent reason that Harvard Law School administrators, professors, and students have been so protective of the identity of the law student who publicly mocked a leading Jewish official as “smelly” is that Husam El-Qoulaq is one of the leaders of the “Royall Must Fall” and “Reclaim Harvard Law School” movements.

“Royall Must Fall” is the group that demands that the law school change its crest, which includes sheaves of wheat that apparently are taken from the symbol of the Royall family, a member of which–a slaveowner–donated land that helped to finance the law school’s founding. These guys are right on top of the major issues of our time.

Unknown

“Reclaim Harvard Law School” is a more sinister group that makes the usual absurd, far-left demands on the law school’s administration. It took over and occupied a building on campus for a considerable time, an action that was condoned by Dean Martha Minow. The extent to which university administrators are on board with the demands of far-left students who purport to confront them is a scandal.

The fact that the far left (especially the Arabic and Islamic far left) is anti-Semitic is no surprise to anyone who pays attention, but the connection is one that Harvard’s administration apparently preferred to keep quiet.
