President Obama is a proponent of the Black Lives Matter movement. He finds them a worthy ally in the “cause” (as he refers to it) of “fundamental transformation” of the criminal justice system. Obama promotes the lie of a racist system without pause or conscience.
Heather Mac Donald asks: “[W]hat if the Black Lives Matter movement is based on fiction? Not just the fictional account of the 2014 police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., but the utter misrepresentation of police shootings generally.”
Mac Donald adds: “To judge from Black Lives Matter protesters and their media and political allies, you would think that killer cops pose the biggest threat to young black men today. But this perception, like almost everything else that many people think they know about fatal police shootings, is wrong.” Foremost among the “political allies” of the Black Lives Matter crowd is the president of the United States.
It’s the Obama factor in the war on cops. Thomas Sowell notes it in his column on Mac Donald’s new book. “[T]o the race hustlers,” Sowell observes, “black lives don’t really matter nearly as much as their chance to get publicity, power, money, votes or whatever else serves their own interests.” Victor Davis Hanson puts the Obama factor in the war on cops into Obama’s larger project in the column “Fundamentally transformed.”
Brit Hume turned his attention to the subject on FOX News Special Report last night (text here, video below). Brit put it this way: “[Obama] has made his sympathy for the Black Lives Matter movement obvious and never mind that the whole premise of the movement seems to be fallacious.” For “seems” read “is.” For “fallacious” read “false.”
