The True Significance of September 11…

…is that it makes Muslims nervous. Tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of the most devastating terrorist attack in history, and its eve is commemorated with one story in the Minneapolis Star Tribune: “Twin Cities Muslims on guard as 9/11, holiday both approach.” The article recalls the observation that for liberals, Islamic terrorism is bad because it causes people to think poorly of Muslims.

The anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks weighs heavily on the minds of Minnesota Muslims as they prepare to celebrate one of the most important holy days of the year.

That would be Eid al-Adha, which is on Monday.

“There has been a long internal discussion about this since last year,” said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). “The overwhelming answer has been that the community should do what they are doing, but there should be extra vigilance.”

CAIR has issued safety guidelines to mosque leaders and community members.

Unindicted terrorist co-conspirator CAIR remains the go-to spokesman for American Muslims.

As the presidential campaign has heated up, CAIR has chronicled a rise in threats and incidents targeting local Muslims. On Wednesday, the U.S. attorney’s office charged Daniel Fisher, 57, for threatening to blow up the Tawfiq Islamic Center mosque in Minneapolis.

“As the presidential campaign has heated up…” has become a ritual formula intended, I suppose, to sneak an anti-Trump theme into news stories. For what it’s worth, Fisher’s threat against the mosque was made in an anonymous letter a year ago and had no apparent relationship to the presidential campaign.

The article describes stepped-up security precautions for religious observances over the next couple of days. What will the region’s imams be preaching about?

Preparing his sermon is not a difficult task for the outspoken Mohamud. It will be about discrimination and unfair treatment Muslims have faced since the 9/11 attacks.

Of course!

As for any connection that might exist between the September 11 attacks and Muslims, that remains a mystery.
