Freakout at Grubhub

Fox News reports that Matt Maloney, the CEO of Grubhub, sent a company wide email Wednesday telling employees that if they agree with the views of President-elect Donald Trump, they should resign. Grubhub is an online food delivery service.

Maloney, a Hillary Clinton supporterr, said:

I absolutely reject the nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics of Donald Trump and will work to shield our community from this movement as best as I can.

He added:

If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here. We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team.

Here, then, we see an employer “shielding” those who work for him from political views he disagrees with — including nationalism — and using his power to intimidate employees who disagree with him. This is contemporary left-liberalism at its core.

Ironically, Maloney also boasts about his company’s allegedly supportive and inclusive culture. He claims “firmly” to believe “that we must bring together different perspectives.”

If the “grub” business doesn’t work out, there should be a place for Maloney as a college administrator.

Was Maloney’s letter a moment of madness induced by grief over the defeat the candidate he favored? Not all. He insists that he’s “not embarrassed by” his letter.

It takes a lot to embarrass a left-liberal.

Maloney claims that “almost twenty percent” of his workforce has thanked him for the letter. In his left-liberal mind, that’s a mandate for ideological intimidation of employees.

If I were a customer of Grubhub, I would “resign.”
