Oh Trudeau!

Sooner or later most everyone is going to realize that Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a hopeless lightweight trading entirely on his father’s prestige, which was itself built largely on media image-crafting that would humble Donald Trump.

Perhaps the left will turn on him first, because yesterday Trudeau came out in favor of the Keystone XL pipeline, but also in favor of the continued development of Canada’s oil sands—both totems of complete evil for the environmental community. Trudeau:

“No country would find 173 billion barrels of oil in the ground and just leave them there. The resource will be developed. Our job is to ensure that this is done responsibly, safely, and sustainably.”

You can ignore that last sentence; it’s just boilerplate. The second sentence—”The resource will be developed”—is the one that counts.

I guess you can cross Justin Trudeau off Tom Steyer’s Gaia Holiday card list.
